How to use — 3 easy steps

1
Clean

Clean caliper slides, pins, shims and backing plates.

The details

Description

Give every brake job a noise-free, corrosion-proof finish with Sil-Glyde® Silicone Brake Lubricant — the high-temperature silicone brake grease trusted by professional technicians and DIY mechanics alike.

Formulated to dampen vibration and seal out moisture, Sil-Glyde keeps caliper pins, pad backing plates, shims, and slides gliding smoothly well beyond break-in. The rubber-safe silicone formula won’t swell or degrade EPDM and nitrile seals, and it stands up to 425°F rotor heat without burning off — so hardware stays protected and comes apart cleanly at the next service.

Apply a thin film to caliper slide pins and boots, pad ears, backing plates, shims, and drum-brake anchor points. Never apply to the pad friction material or the rotor face.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I apply brake lubricant?
A thin film on caliper slide pins, pad ears, shims, backing plates and drum anchor points. Never on the pad friction material or rotor face.
How much do I need per brake job?
A thin film is all it takes — a single 4 g pouch covers one axle and a 4 oz tube handles dozens of jobs.
Is it safe on rubber seals and boots?
Yes — the silicone formula won't swell or degrade EPDM and nitrile rubber, unlike petroleum greases.
Does it stop brake squeal?
In most cases, yes. Squeal is vibration — a film between the pad backing plate, shims and caliper absorbs it at the source.
